ICARUS REWARDS SUPPLIER INNOVATIONS

The results of the 2nd annual ICARUS Environmental Awards were announced today. In addition to the seven supplier awards from 2007/8 the Project ICARUS advisory group, responsible for the Institute of Travel & Meetings's CSR project, created an eighth category - that of Best Corporate Team. This new award rewards the corporate and one or more suppliers who have worked together to drive CO2 emissions from the corporate's business travel & meetings programme. The judges, again chaired by Dr Keith Mason of Cranfield University's Business Travel Research Centre, were comprised of eight environmental and business travel experts including four doctors and professors from academic establishments around the UK. The awards are being announced to the industry via a press release and through a special ICARUS Supplement in partnership with the Business Travel Magazine.

Paul Tilstone, Chief Executive of ITM and ICARUS Advisory group participant said "Competition was tough this year , with one judge commenting that he wanted to congratulate ICARUS on the volume and quality of the entries. The judge advised me that the entries were some of the best he had seen, and he had judged four award programmes this year. This is encouraging in terms of demonstrating genuine progress from last year's awards and all of the winners should be congratulated."

The winners of the 2008/9 ICARUS Environmental Awards are detailed in the ICARUS winners gallery. Click here to check out who won and why.
