Awards & Accreditation
ICARUS seeks to drive change through the recognition of business travel and meetings management environmental activity across the buyer and supplier communities.
We are looking to accredit companies who are committed to making sustainability and carbon reductions a core function within their organisation as well as building programmes for the long term benefit of the customers, stakeholders and shareholders they serve.
ICARUS has therefore devised a set of awards to recognise both buyers and suppliers and a programme of accreditation for organisations throughout the world.
Our objectives are to encourage buyers and sellers of travel and meetings to engage in meaningful conversations about the subject of sustainability and move the industry forward in a constructive and effective manner. The assessment and awards criteria is, by design, a review of activities aimed at providing evidence of industry leadership as well as a commitment to travellers, customers, stakeholders and shareholders they serve.
The ICARUS Environmental Awards
These are undertaken via yearly submissions and judged by a specially selected panel of environmental experts and academics. For more details, click here for the 2012 supplier awards for and here for the 2012 buyer awards or here to see a list of previous winners.
The ICARUS Sustainability and Environment Accreditation Programme
There are presently four stages of environmental accreditation for buyers and one stage of sustainability accreditation for buyer and suppliers of business travel and meetings services. Companies can apply for accreditation and be assessed against a set level of criteria which recognises the stage a corporation is at in terms of policy, behavioural change and achievement of realistic targets.
